Nothing specific, there's just a lot of shit going on in Hell's Kitchen right now. I want to know they're safe. And they'll take it better from you than from me.
Kind of. I wasn't really taught any one style, more a combination of things. But my dad was a boxer, so there's a lot of that in what I know.
They'll be so thrilled to meet you, I doubt it'll be hard to convince them. We okay, though. I don't really think it's necessary to bring in the big guns.
Well, if you don't mind coming down to the Kitchen, I work out at Fogwell's. I can get you in after hours and we can swap tips.
I think in the long run, keeping us from being destroyed by alien invaders gives you quite a bit of leeway. Although maybe not enough to invite you into the neighborhood en masse just yet.
Well, it's not that impressive, just my dad's old gym. I practically grew up there.
Look for Battlin' Jack Murdock. You might not find anything, though. He wasn't big time, you know? Local stuff, just purses that paid enough to get by on.
Who me? Not sure what kind of special moves you expect from a blind lawyer, but I'll give it my best.
I wish I had some things of my mom's. I miss her constantly.
Completely understandable. It's really dangerous but I can show you a few pointers. My mom and Bucky never wanted me in any kind of scrapes. I never listened and ended up here. At least, back in the day mine were more minor things. A lot more international now.
Thanks. It really would. He was pretty much all I had.
Has to be a hell of a lot harder for you, though. I'm sorry.
A lot of things changed for me after Dad died. Some of them I'll tell you about tomorrow night. They're kind of relevant to what we're going to be doing. And I think there's something to be said for not listening. Sometimes the people who care about us mean well, but they don't understand that there are things you do because you can't not do them.
I'm sure he would be real proud of you. You really help people who otherwise wouldn't have anyone.
I think loss is always hard. I just wish she could have enjoyed an easier life. This time period has everything! It's unbelievable how easy, well, everything is. Did you know there is a fridge that will talk to you and tell you when you've run out of something? It blew my mind.
I'm intrigued, I've got to say. Exactly. There are some things, some people you just have to stand up for even if it's rougher for you. Some of us just have fire in our veins, least, that's what my ma used to always say.
He liked the idea of me becoming a lawyer. I hope he is proud of me for that.
Wow, I could use a fridge like that. I remember when voice commands became an actually viable technology, it was great. Thank God for text-to-voice, it makes my job so much easier. Now if we can just get the use of braille a little more widespread. I get tired of having menus read to me.
'Fire in our veins'. I like that. Your mom sounds like she was a pretty smart woman.
[ooc: I'm really enjoying their interactions, wonder if you'd be interested in threading out their meetup?]
You're still battling, just verbally. Just so I know, are you a big debater?
I'll make note of that and talk to Tony. He and Pepper always want to help the general public more now.
She was the wisest person and always had those pearls of wisdom. She always made sure I felt worthy of everything regardless of what society tried to tell me back then.
[ ooc: me too!! they've really connected and it's been so interesting. i'd love to thread out their meet up. most definitely. ]
I feel like I can hold my own. Never really thought of it that way, but you're right. Going into the courtroom, facing off against a prosecutor in front of that jury...it is a little like stepping into a ring.
Well if they decide they want a project like that, voice recognition software can still be pretty iffy. And expensive. Not to mention the specialty hardware that goes with it. And that's just for personal use. You should try shopping for groceries blind sometime.
Sounds a little like my dad. He was always talking about how I learned braille faster than he learned to read with own eyes. Always told me I could do anything I wanted, and I didn't need anybody's help to do it.
[ooc: awesome! should we find a meme that works, or psl it? i have a musebox if you want to use that. ]
What can I say, sometimes I have my moments. It's something I'd never want to do. It'd be too much pressure holding someone's fate that firmly and just needing words and evidence to save them.
I can't imagine it. Before the serum, I was color blind but I could still see. Things should be more accessible, especially in this day and age.
It really motivated you didn't it? Made you work harder to live up to that?
[ ooc: can i say all of the above or?? but i'm good with either one. if we can find a meme to work or psling it. ]
I'm not always successful, but I honestly believe if a person is innocent, the evidence is there. My job is just to make sure the jury sees it and understands it. It's the people who are guilty and escape justice because the system doesn't always work the way it should that make me angry.
I still have some memories of when I could see, but you how memories are. Your mind creates things to fill in the blanks. And things have gotten better even since I was a kid. Just...it's not a priority for most people.
Yeah, it really did. Still does. I don't know if he'd approve of everything, but I want to think that he's still watching out for me, and that he thinks I'm helping people.
[ooc: yes, yes you can. :D i've got a top level on the random scenario meme i think, or i can link you my open psl post in my musebox. ]
Clearly, you have a passion for it and I think people will always pick up on that. You want to believe people when they have a drive for something. I know. I've had to learn that the hard way with all the HYDRA business.
Well, I think it's time for that to change. How - did it happen? If you don't want to talk about it, I get it.
Is that a more religious view or just a hopeful one?
[ ooc: i can reply to both if you want to link me!! ]
Thank you. Really means a lot to hear that. Especially from you.
It's okay, I don't really mind, it's no secret. Basically just a freak accident, a truck hauling chemicals overturned and got hit with some. They damaged my eyes.
Some of both, I guess. I do believe in God and I do believe that somewhere, my dad's happy.
[ooc: open psl post is here and random scenario top level is here]
Do you know what kind of chemicals they were? That could be something to look into.
I believe too but I haven't been to confessional in a really, really long time. Probably the last time was before the war. That might make me just a little overdue.
[ ooc: responded to both! if anything doesn't work, let me know. ]

I could show them a thing or two.
Might could even show you something.

Wouldn't turn down a lesson or two for myself, either.

I'd love that. You know how to kickbox, don't you?

Kind of. I wasn't really taught any one style, more a combination of things. But my dad was a boxer, so there's a lot of that in what I know.

I'm interested in seeing. Buck taught me back in the day how to. So, it's kinda street style I guess you could say.

After hours. Fancy. If you're trying to impress me, it's working.
I can do that. How's tomorrow night for you?
no subject
Well, it's not that impressive, just my dad's old gym. I practically grew up there.
Yeah, tomorrow sound great. Sevenish?

Your dad - was he good? My own pops was in the army. I always wanted to follow into his footsteps. At least, in that regard.
Sounds perfect. We'll see what you're made of.

He was great. They always said he could take a punch like nobody else, and nobody could keep him down. I always loved to listen to his fights.
Just remember that I'm plain old flesh and blood.
no subject
I wonder if they have any of his fights archived. I'll have to check.
I have a feeling you have some unexpected moves there.

Who me? Not sure what kind of special moves you expect from a blind lawyer, but I'll give it my best.

You're the son of a boxer. I'm sure he taught you something.
